Changing a Source File Reference

 

Overview

At times it may become necessary to change the reference (name and/or location) of a source file that is already part of a translation project (and that has already been translated).  For example, the name and/or location of a source file may have changed making it necessary to update the reference.

 

Previously, if a source file name or the location of a file has changed the only way to update the reference within RC-WinTrans is to remove the (current, old) source file from the translation project and add the (newly named/placed) source to the translation project.  This caused any existing translations to go lost and the file needed to be translated again.  As of Version 8.7.5.2 RC-WinTrans provides the option to change the reference to a source file directly in the application without disturbing any of the file's data (existing translations).

 

 

Changing a Source File Reference

 

Select the Properties tab view in the Miscellaneous bar and set the display for the properties of "Project File."

In the Projects tree view, select the source file you want to change the reference for.

Select the File Name property and use the command button to the right to open a dialog box where you can select the "new" source file.
